Alice May Laver

1952-2012
Passed away on July 27, 2012 at Princess Margaret Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife of Dave Laver. Dear sister of Marianne Turtle and Dennis Jordan. She will be lovingly remembered by step-children Jeff Visser and family, Chris Laver and family and Colleen Therriault and family. Daughter-in-law of Gord and Edna Laver. Sister-in-law of Patricia (Ron), Alan (Jane), Ken, Debbie (Louie) and James (Sandra). She will be missed by nieces Rowena, Kristin, Cindy and Marnie, her aunt Vivian and her cousins Leona (Al), Irvine (Marilyn), Brian (Laverne), Sharon (Alf), Anna (Conrad), Mary (Rolf), Michelle (John) and cousins in Holland. Predeceased by her parents Leslie and Geesje Jordan, her brother Ron and nephew Geoffrey.
Alice May was born and raised in Shelburne area. On completion of her education she taught at C.D.D.H.S. her entire career until she became ill. She was a dedicated, caring, committed teacher, loved by her students and colleagues. Her passions in life were her flowers, gardening, sewing, teaching and sharing these many gifts and talents with each and every one of us. The family would like to thank Dr. Bernstein, staff of Sunnybrook Hospital, Dr. Loach, Princess Margaret Transplant team, all the staff on 14B & 15B at Princess Margaret Hospital. Thank you to all her special friends who gave her encouragement, loving thoughts and prayers as she walked this journey.
The family will receive friends at the Doney Funeral Home, Shelburne on Friday, August 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, the Cancer Society, the S.P.C.A. or your favourite charity.
